Pan is another of the family of half man half animal family of faery creatures. He is the son of Penelope and the God Hermes.

Hermes raped Penelope in the form of a goat and so Pan was born with some goat features. The lower half of his body is covered with hair and his legs are that of a goat. He has a very handsome face and horns protruding from his scalp.

Like the Satyrs he loves women, especially drayads and nymphs. He spends much of his time chasing these poor creatures that usually try and run from his attentions.

Unlike the Satyrs he does not indulge in alchol. He is less mischievious, though he will punish anyone foolish enough to wake him from his midday nap.

He has a fondness for the shepherds of the land. He will protect them and ensures the fertility of their herds. He also ensures lush pastures to feed the flocks of sheep. Pan gave the gift of the pan pipes to the shepherds.

"Druidry is not a religion. It's a philosophy and you can worship a God or a Goddess, it's up to you. You can be a Christian or a Moslem or anything else and still be a Druid. "But while a Christian will say God made that tree, a Druid will say the energy of a creative force is in that tree." Kieron, a North-East UK Druid.
